Amber Owen (Lilly)

Yvette and I met in 9th grade at Indian Creek Jr. High. She had just moved to Overland Park, KS from a little town called, Eldon, MO. She and I hit it off and became best buds for the rest of the year. That summer we did everything together, we were like sisters.
Since we couldn't drive we walked everywhere. Her stepfather used to take us to Oak Park Mall in his Corvette and we thought that was soooo cool.
The next year we went to Shawnee Mission South and remained friends but soon drifted apart, due to not having any classes together. We remained friends but seemed to kind of go our different ways.
Twice over the years I was successful in getting back into touch with Yvette and she had married, had two kids, got divorced and remarried.
We keep in touch through Christmas cards but eventually once again drifted apart.
I have thought of her over the years and wish now that I had tried a little harder to contact her.
As I was searching for her this year to see if she was going to go to the reunion, I learned of her passing.
I was so sad that I didn't get to see her once again before she died.
I told her folks that I would come visit them when I come back for the 30th reunion. At least we can share some stories and remember Yvette for the fun loving gal that she was.
I hope that whoever reads this tries a little harder to keep in touch with those we care about because you just never know......life is short and can throw you some curve balls. So live it now and to the fullest!
R.I.P. Yvette,
I'll miss you,
Amber Owen-Lilly
