Dr. Russell M. “Russ” Johnson, 54, Olathe, Kansas, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015.

Russ was born Wednesday, Sept. 13, 1961, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Ross E. and Betty J. (Miller) Johnson. He lived in Overland Park, Kansas, before moving in 2003 to Olathe, Kansas.

He graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School with the class of 1979. Russ continued his education at the University of Kansas with a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering in 1983, masters in business administration and juris doctorate in 1991, and doctor of medicine in 2002.

Russ was united in marriage with Pamela Garrett Nov. 21, 2003, in Olathe, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his children, Katie and Will Johnson both of the home; mother, Betty Johnson of Overland Park; sister, Barbara Johnson of Tulsa, Oklahoma; brother, Jim Johnson and wife Mary Ann of Overland Park; two nephews, Ben and Sam, their wives and sons; and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ross Johnson.

Russ was employed as the chief medical officer for Swope Health Services, Kansas City, Missouri.

Russ loved being with his family, traveling to Disney World, and fishing in Yellowstone National Park. Most importantly, Russ had accepted Christ as his Savior. He attended Olathe Bible Church.
