How happy I was to have found your sister with the hope of reconnecting with you. I was then saddened to read of your death. John, I hope you found happiness and peace during your life. You are missed.

John Bret-
I was saddened to learn of your passing. I will always remember you in your banana suit going to a WPA in junior high. We hung together a lot growing up. I'll always remember our moms learning to play guitar and then going out for a drink. We miss Bobbie and we miss you! Be at peace, Bret!

I am really sad to hear of his passing. Before I moved away from KC there was a sports bar we used to go to all the time. By we, I mean Shouse, Hervey and myself, usually. Anway, John worked there and I saw him often. He was a fantastic guy. Very funny.

God Bless.

John & I & a small group of others were friends as seniors - does anyone remember KSMS Radio? We 'studied' together & hung out & always had a good time. I'll remember him fondly.

So sorry to hear of John's passing. He had the best smile and always made me smile. We had some good times.
God Bless you. I know you are in a good place. God bless your family and sorrow they must have.

I was so sad to learn of your passing. I remember meeting you in 7th grade at Indian Creek. You always had a big smile. You were always making me laugh. I know you are in heaven smiling down at us.

Oh John! I can still hear his laugh! And he made me laugh - belly laugh! What fun it was to be his friend - to be in Mr. Haney's speech class at Indian Creek - to goof around back stage at South - John, always incredibly talented, considerate, kind, intelligent...a sweet friend and part of my childhood. Oh, if you didn't get to hang out with or witness the antics of John Pilkington, Tucker Johnston and Steve Grimm...you missed out. Incredibly talented, charming guys. John I miss you miss you.

John was one really cool guy.
John, thanks for sharing your wisdom, your wit and the stories of your great adventures, with Lawless, Hervey and me. I was always in the best of moods after spending time with you. Oh, how you will be missed by so many.

When Gretchen Thomas learned that John had died, I really couldn't breathe. It's taken me a month just to be able to write out here. One of the big things I was hoping for at this reunion was seeing the Grimm & Pilkington comedy duo reunited. I find it incredibly sad that all of us have lost that opportunity. John always made me laugh, laugh so hard my sides hurt. No matter what any of us have accomplished in our lives, the ability to make someone laugh and help them forget life's worries for a little while is a true gift. John, I wish I could have told you that. You made my high school years happier. I will miss you.

Truely sad, I had hoped to see Bret again this week! We grew up as next door neighbors from before Linwood through H.S. and enjoyed many years of friendship!
