Bruce, I'll never forget you. You invited me to our 8th grade dance at Indian Creek Jr High. You wore a light blue suit and I a light blue long dress. Where did you go, what happened? I pray you are in peace! ~Darby
I ran into Bruce's mom in Palm Springs, California about 10 years ago or so. We ended up talking for what seemed like an hour. She told me of Bruce's brain tumor and how Bruce had passed away and was buried back in KC off of Metcalf I think? She shared how Bruce had been married to a great gal after college and they were really happy before he got sick. She laughed at us kids and remembered the last day of 9th grade...I was supposed to spend the night at the Romjue house in Leawood with several others. There was a "woodsey" that night down at the park off of Roe and 103rd...a bunch of people were there that night from both Indian Creek and Nallwood. The cops appeared late that night to bust up the party and everyone scattered. A few rascals might of been experimenting with the herb? Well, our group of guys had to split up and we all had to walk back to the Romjue's...we arrived later than expected that night. I think the two (2) eighth graders who were at the party got detained by the police...Tom Haenisch and Tom Payne. Mrs. Romjue remembered how Ralph Haenisch had called the Romjue house looking for Todd...so we were all busted...I thought she was going to bust a tear laughing at me. Bruce was a nice guy and is missed by a lot of people.
