I dated Wayne for almost a year in high school.  He was such a sweet guy.  I think his mission in life was to make sure he got every ounce of fun out of it that he possibly could!  We certainly did have a blast!

After high school and at the time of his death he was managing The Cookie Factory at Metcalf South.  I was away at KU (I think) and my little sister Jackie called to tell me she got a job and said, "You'll never guess who my manager is!"  She said it was always fun working with him.

I went to Wayne's funeral, I'm sorry I can't remember the exact date or year.  But, I remember when I found out he'd died, being in disbelief.  People our age didn't "just die."  But, I'm glad that I went to his funeral ansd was able to touch base with his family again.  They are really good people.  And so was Wayne.  He was really "good people."  I'm glad he was part of my life.  I always smile when I think of him.

I can't ever remember a time when Wayne didn't have a smile (or an ornery grin!) on his face. He was so sweet and such a fun guy to be around. I have lots of good memories of him working at Hardee's at 95th and Antioch during high school. I remember conversations about the infamous "spanish fly", upcoming parties, and fun things we were going to do. When I saw that he had passed away several years ago, it was in an ad at the bottom of the obituary page in the KC Star. He had passed away a few years before I even knew about it. I don't know how it happened, but I'm thinking it was around the mid 90's. He was a great friend and I miss him!
