I knew Howie from the symphonic and marching band.  He was very quiet outwardly but had a great sense of humor.  John Nobles, Howie and I would hang out having fun driving around and stuff.

Howie sold Kirby vacuum cleaners during one summer.  He actually did quite well. I remember he took a Honda 50 scooter in on trade, and he supplied me and other friends with old vacuum cleaners he took in trade as well. I had a round Hoover "Space Age" vacuum from Howie that I finally took to the dump in 1994, still working. He would "cold call" people saying that they won a free ham from Station K-I-R-B-Y, and could he come over and deliver it for them? It was a 2.5 pound canned ham, but it was FREE!  The stories he could tell about selling those Kirbys.

Howie majored in Aerospace Engineering as KU.  Others know more about his career, but I remember hearing he was out in California at JPL working for NASA on the Space Shuttle system.

He was a good friend
