Damon Williams, 63, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away October 10, 2014 at home from complications of brain cancer. He was born June 7, 1951 in Kansas City, MO, son of Wallace "Bud" and Anne Williams. A native of the Kansas City area, Damon graduated from Shawnee Mission South and attended Wichita State University where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi. In 1978, he founded The Homeowner's Helper, a service, repair and remodeling company, owning and operating it for the following 30 years, and in 2000 he established Louisburg Building and Development Company. In 1981, Damon married Brenda Wart and in 1985, their only child, Carson, was born. Damon was actively involved in Rotary International where he was a Paul Harris Fellow; an assistant leader of Boy Scout Troop 282 and an Honorary Warrior of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say; a founding member of KC Chapter of NARI; a member of Duck's Unlimited and an advocate of nature conservation and he was a member of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection. Damon loved nature, hunting, fishing, traveling the back roads, dreaming big, and working hard, which was "playing" for him. He held many interests and enjoyed many hobbies including competitive sailing, BBQ competitions, and the Mustang Club of Greater Kansas City. Damon was a selfless man and always concerned about the welfare of others. He embraced life with wonder, curiosity and enthusiasm, and was undaunted by any challenge. He was devoted to his family and friends, and he freely expressed his gratitude and love to them. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 33 years, Brenda; his son, Carson T. Williams, MD and his fiance, Rachel Seitter, currently of Buffalo, NY; his brother, John Williams of Olathe and sisters Mary Anne Jones of Elizabeth, CO and Bernice (Ray) Kyle of Shawnee, KS; brother-in-law and his wife, Jim and Judy Wart, Bentonville, AR; and nieces, Samantha Kipp and Stephanie Holmes. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, October 17, 2014 in the Wesley Chapel of the Church of the Resurrection with a reception following at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Damon A.
