Roger was born on July 16, 1947 and passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017. Roger was a resident of Overland Park, Kansas at the time of passing. Roger graduated from Shawnee Mission West High School.
I was very saddened to hear of Roger's passing. I remember him well from high school and classes we had together to seeing him years later at one of our reunions where we visited about his career. Roger was a great person who I will always remember. RIP.
We had tons of fun playing backyard football and driveway basketball, until finally making it to high school, where our athletic careers ended. It was sobering to realize we were not only the smallest guys in the neighborhood, but the smallest guys at West.
But, Roger played big. He was a great basketball shooter and after every shot explained to us that, "It's just physics, guys".
Roger had a wonderful sense of humor as a kid and kept us neghiborhood guys entertained with his "farm" stories from his earlier days growing up in rural Nebraska.
I didn't know Roger as an adult, but I'm sure he was a good man, was loved and will be missed by many.
