LOCATION:
I do not want to have this reunion in Oxford.
I am voting RTP-area. This will provide (1) better hotel options for people, (2) more social-friendly, as far as people being able to have some quality, local entertainment, such as different restaurants, Southpoint Mall, Crabtree Mall and the many different bars/pubs and yes, clubs, for those of you that like the club, throughout Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill -- not to mention the Morrisville/Cary area too. The triangle isn't rated the #1 growing area in America for nothing.
If we have this event in Oxford, our level of pleasure will be solely dependant upon the "reunion events." And frankly, reunions are about seeing old faces, eating a big meal together on one day and other than that, it's about mixing that class-socializing with a fun, personal weekend. The majority of us will not be happy paying our money for a reunion, paying to travel to Oxford, where we'll all meet somewhere socially average in Oxford (why would we go to Henderson anyway, as if it's such a drastic upgrade from Oxford), speak to each other, have a few laughs, eat and then be restricted to our hotel rooms with nothing else to do, unless we want to "cruise the Wal Mart parking lot" as adults, because the area we went to high School provides no social limelight.
I will pay extra to NOT have this event in Oxford. This is truly what is best for the class as a whole, in my opinion. Charlotte is a great place too, but let's not get carried away. Those of us who got a car at some point in high school, we drove to Durham, Raleigh and Chapel Hill from Oxford -- so that's fair game-- but who drove to Charlotte? Thanks....nobody. That is really pushing it, almost to the point of alienation.
These are all my humble opinions of course, meant with no offense to any individual(s) that may have an opposing perspective. Thanks for your time.
