Elementary School Closings -- Hadden, Hale Road, Leroy and Madison Avenue schools will hold an open house each as the 2019 school year closes and the buildings are permanently closed. From the District's web page

The District has announced four Community Farewell Open House dates for each of the elementary schools that are closing at the end of the 2018-2019 school year.

This will be an opportunity for community members, alumni, former staff members or anyone with a connection to these buildings to do a final walk-through of the building, socialize with old friends, celebrate the building’s history and say a proper goodbye to the school.

Each of these open house dates will feature a brief presentation about the history of the building, speakers, refreshments, a tour of the building and an opportunity to view old memorabilia, historical pictures and more.

These four buildings – which were all constructed in the 1920s and 1930s - are a rich part of our community’s history and we look forward to celebrating all the great memories you may have had with these buildings.

The dates for the Community Farewell Open Houses are below. Each open house will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Tuesday, April 23, 2019: Hadden Elementary
Wednesday, April 24, 2019: Leroy Elementary
Thursday, April 25, 2019: Madison Avenue Elementary
Wednesday, May 1, 2019: Hale Road Elementary

A Facebook event page (HaddenLeroyMadison AvenueHale) has been created for each Open House on the District’s Facebook page. We encourage you to join and share the page with others. Each page has a discussion thread where community members can share pictures, memorabilia and memories of the school.

* Each of these buildings will schedule two additional casual walk-through open houses following the dates above for those who cannot make the Community Farewell Open House date. Those dates will be announced at a later time.

Wow! The 50th Reunion was fantastic! '68 Rules!!

Thanks to everyone who was able to attend for making it memorable. It was wonderful to meet everyone again! And for those who could not attend -- we toasted you, we toasted our classmates who have passed, and we toasted our teachers!

Over the next weeks, we will be posting pictures and more in the "50th Reunion Photos" tab there on the left side of the page. Everyone who has pictures can start their own gallery in the appropriate place, and while administrators (me and Dave Alban) have to approve before the photos become public, that will happen quickly.

The next official events are listed below, so watch for further information.

  • November 2, 2018, 6 p.m.: Quarterly Dinner, location TBA
  • February 2, 2019, 6 p.m.: Quarterly Dinner, location TBA
  • May 4, 2019, 6 p.m.: Quarterly Dinner, location TBA
  • August 3, 2019, 1 p.m.: Annual Picnic, Lake Shore Reservation

And if classmates from out of town do come back to visit, please let us know. We love to have a lunch or dinner gathering at any time!

For Throwback Thursday, click on "Graduation Day 1968" in the left column and watch a video of the class breakfast and graduation ceremony. Thanks to Connie McFarren Stokes and Tom Strong for saving it all these years!

Hello classmates of Riverside High School class of 1968. This is a new location for our class listings and information, including forthcoming information about our upcoming 50th reunion August 10-12, 2018.

The class list has been imported and is based on records kept by Ruth Tenney Sprowls from the 40th Reunion, and updated as committee members identify new information. Class photos for the 1968 Beavers Tale have been uploaded. Some names do not have photos and we are searching for something appropriate.

Now we need everyone to log in to participate. Help us find remaining class members as we prepare for the 50th Reunion!

The first thing to do is read the "First Time Visitors" section by clicking on the link in the top row. Many of your questions about privacy and more will be answered there.

Next, pay your respects to our fellow classmates who have passed away in the "In Memory" section. Let us know if we have missed anyone so we can honor them.

Third, find your name on the "Classmate Profiles" section again by clicking on the link on the top row. When you find yourself, click in and register your information. Again, those pages will have information about privacy, etc.

If you do not want to be listed here or ever contacted by your classmates, please write me on the "Contact Me" page and let me know. I will delete your name and all related information from the list. If you don't mind your name and photo being here, but don't want to be contacted by anyone, just remove your email and other contact information from your profile details.

Finally, please reach out to classmates you know and urge them to come and register here. We are missing some classmembers and want to have as many people included as possible. Also, if you see any ommissions or names that need correction, please let me know.
