Thomas McGuinn

OBITUARY

Thomas N. McGuinn, 67, of Marengo, passed unexpectedly and surrounded by family on December 26, 2022.
He was born July 28, 1955, the son of Charles and Marlene. On April 6, 1974, he married his Fremd high school sweetheart, Pamela A. Schwank. Pam and Tom resided in Palatine until moving to Marengo in 1998. Tom worked for his father-in-law at Vogt Excavating, Holman Brick Company as yard superintendent, and District 15 Transportation. Tom’s greatest joy was his family, always putting them first. If there was something to be fixed, planters to be tended to, advice (always given), or a sporting event for one of his nine grandchildren, Tom was there. His Grandchildren knew him as “Papa”. Tom loved tending to his flowers and adored the affection of all of his pug dogs past and present. Tom donated to the Illinois Lottery for many years in the way of scratch off’s (dimes only) and suffered weekly as a die-hard Chicago Bears Fan. Above all else, Tom loved his time with his wife Pam and was proud of the family they had built.
He is survived by his wife, Pam, his children, Shannon Mielas (Matt Brainerd), Jack Thomas “JT” (Cari) McGuinn, Anna (Josh) Koelper, his nine grandchildren, Colin, Caden, Leah, Gunnar, Gage, Bryce, Dane, Jaxson, and Walker. By his beloved Mother-in-law, Marilyn Schwank, and sister-in-law Jackie (Dave) Loehner. Tom is also survived by his siblings, Bill McGuinn, Chuck (Karen) McGuinn, Steve McGuinn, Cynthia McGuinn, Sharon (Bob) Kelly, and Bobby McGuinn and by many nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lenny and father-in-law, Jack Schwank.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023, from 3:00pm until the 5:00pm Memorial Service all at St. John Lutheran Church in Union- 6821 Main St, Union, IL 60180. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to The Marengo Rescue Squad District or Young at Heart Pet Shelter in Woodstock.
