May 28, 1957 - September 27, 1999 Mark David Stanke, 42, formerly of Palatine, died Monday in his Chicago home. Mr. Stanke was raised in Palatine and graduated from Fremd High School there. He served three years in the Air Force and was stationed in Spokane, Wash. During the 1980s, Mr. Stanke worked in promotions at KOA radio in Denver. He returned to Chicago in the late 1980s and attended the University of Illinois at Chicago. During the same time, Mr. Stanke served as a menswear manager at the Marshall Field & Co. store at Woodfield Shopping Center in Schaumburg. He became ill in 1992 and retired. "There was something so spiritual and special about him," said his sister Stephanie Waldron. Other survivors include his life partner, Scott Drain; his parents, Richard and Dorothy; two brothers, Richard and Jeffrey; and another sister, Susan Steichen.
