Barbara J. Cook, 68, died peacefully with family by her side on September 17, 2019 in Springfield. Born April 5, 1951 in Palmer, she was the daughter of Raymond E. Cook of Monson and the late Marion (Adams/Talmadge) Cook and has lived in Brimfield for 30 years. Barbara grew up in Bondsville and graduated from Palmer High School. Following graduation, she worked at the former Monson Developmental Center for many years. She loved animals, especially horses, and enjoyed reading and gardening. She lovingly tended to the gardens at Colonial Park where she has resided for the past 12 years. Besides her father, she will be missed by her 6 siblings, Mary Lee Mottor of Brimfield, Joanne Turner- Chiacchia and her husband Stephen of Three Rivers, Raymond Cook and his wife Linda of Ware, Karen McNamara and her husband Paul of Monson, James R. Cook and his wife MaryJane of Longmeadow, and Richard Cook and his wife Ana of Palmer. Additionally, many nieces and nephews survive her. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, followed by burial in Four Corners Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. For those wishing to honor her love of horses, the family requests to omit flowers and make donations in her memory to Blue Star Equiculture Draft Horse Sanctuary, 62 Birch Hill Rd, W.
