Susan I. Sheehan-Pallatino

1951 - 2011

WILBRAHAM - Susan I. Sheehan-Pallatino, 59, died Monday, May 16, 2011 at Baystate Medical Center with her husband by her side. She was born in Providence R.I. to the late Christopher and Elizabeth (Barry) Sheehan and was a graduate of Our Lady of the Elms. Susan was a dedicated teacher for 36 years teaching at both Hillside School and Quarry Hill Community School in Monson. Here she was an advocate for discovery based learning. Susan loved the ocean and to travel especially to Maine, Chatham, MA and Newport, Rhode Island. She was a voracious reader and had a great sense of humor. Susan will be remembered as an independent, gentle woman whose warm dignity, open heart and quiet depth resonated with all who knew her. She endured her illness with enormous strength, dignity and compassion, with full support of her husband, David, her greatest caregiver by her side. Memories of Susan will be cherished by those who had the honor of knowing her. Susan was the dear and devoted wife of David J. Pallatino of Wilbraham, loving sister of Cynthia Sheehan Leal and her husband, Michael Leal of Palmer, MA, dear sister-in-law to Richard Falzone of Longmeadow, devoted aunt of Mary Leal and her husband, Todd Cochi of S. Hadley and Suzanne Leal Sinclair and her husband, Eric Sinclair of Warren, and great aunt to Emily Sheehan Sinclair. She was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Mary (Allison) Pallatino, her father-in-law, Quito A. Pallatino and her sister-in-law Gail Falzone. A celebration of Susan's life will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 8:45 AM from the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home 220 N. Main St. E. Longmeadow, MA followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church 123 Williams St. Springfield, MA. Rites of Committal will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, State St, Springfield, MA. A Gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
