I met Jim Nixon thhough our sisters who were friends in the class of 59.  We attended the same parties and went to movies together.  Rock Around the Clock was the only one I remember.  After graduation I worked in Palo Alto at Kebel's Camera and at SRI for a couple of years.  Jim sepnt summers in PA working for college money.  One of the jobs was in Redwood City at a place that made Marachino Cherries.  He spent one evening telling me, in great detail, the entinre process from fresh cherries to to the bright red stemmed supper sweet things in the jar.  It was hot sticky back breaking work.  Every time since then  that I have looked at Marachino Cherries I have thought of Jim.

Years later I retired to Corrales NM and Jim lived in Oklahoma City.  Every trip East my wife and I would stop in KC and have dinner with Jim.  Ocassionaly we would talk on the phone.  Then three years ago he never answered the phone and his messaage folder was always full.  I talked to his sister who told me that Jim had had a bad stroke.  Unfortunately he never recovered and died in February 2020.  I will miss him.
