While the memory of some friends from Paly Hi days has all but faded, some names, with the distinct personalisites associated with their names, still stick out in my mind. The Taylor Twins, as I knew them, were special. Their personalities differed in wonderful ways, but in common they were both really great people. My condolances to Peggy for the loss of her sister...
The twins were my first and best friends when I moved to palo alto in 5th grade and continue to be after all these years. Losing dear Betty was a true tragedy. Peg and I continue to stay in touch and I treasure her friendship and fond memories of our years together
I noticed the improvement in El Camino Real a year ago, the last time I had been on that highway in a number of years. I had no idea that was the result of what must have tireless work by a class mate. My sympathy to the family on the much too soon death of an wonderful person and to the community of one of the people that makes communities work.
A few years ago, I was driving south on El Camino near Stanford Shopping Center and saw a highway sign naming that part of the road after Betty. Now I know how that happened. She deserves that recognition, not only for her work beautifying the highway, but also because she was such a great person.
I attended the El Camino dedication to Betty a few years ago. As well as family and city officials, beautification co-workers were part of the program. It was impressive. I expected other classmates to attend and I had hoped the Taylor name was included in Betty’s signs on “The Kings Highway” so more people would recognize her. Thanks Peggy for recognizing this special honor.

To have a highway named after you says it all. Betty was a devoted
citizen of Palo Alto and spent much of her free time trying to make
El Camino Real beautiful. She succeeded and today as you drive
through Menlo Park and Palo Alto, you can see the trees which
line the streets. Betty was also a sensitive and caring
mother and wife. She was a true friend and could be counted on to
do the right thing. We miss you every day, darling Betty. xo Peggy
