Marilyn McGowen**

Marilyn McGowen passed away on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007:

The Alameda County coroner’s bureau has identified 51-year-old Marilyn McGowen of Redwood City as the passenger on a Harley Davidson motorcycle involved Sunday in a fatal collision that also claimed the life of the motorcycle’s driver.

Gary Petersen, 56, of Hayward, and McGowen were riding a 2006 Harley Road Glide northbound on Mission Boulevard at about 9:15 p.m. when a 2007 Honda Civic traveling southbound on Mission Boulevard turned onto eastbound Webster Street and crashed with the motorcycle, according to police.
Petersen was pronounced dead at the scene. McGowen was taken to Eden Medical Center where she later died, according to police.

The driver of the Honda, 22-year-old Hayward resident Jesus Antonio Vasquez, fled the scene of the crash but was later located and booked into jail, police reported.

The results of drug and alcohol tests will determine if Vasquez should be charged with vehicular manslaughter, Sgt. Corey Quinn said.
