Christopher Bloomer Webster was born December 8, 1953 in Los Angeles, CA and died March 7, 2019 at Kaiser Hospital in Redwood City. He was the owner of the Redwood City limo company Atherton Coach for the past 30 years. He was a jazz pianist, a folk artist of desert landscapes, a lover of weather events, games, the Dodgers, classical music as well as jazz pianists Art Tatum and Oscar Peterson. He had an extraordinary gift as a story teller and joke teller, considered by many to be a comedian. He is the author of a book available on Amazon entitled, ”Confessions of a Chauffeur” which describes his experiences chauffeuring people around the San Francisco Bay Area. He is survived by his domestic partner Jason Melancon, his mother Nancy Bloomer Deussen, his stepfather Gary Deussen, his sisters Jennifer De Guzman and Elizabeth McComb, nieces Gabriela De Guzman and Daniela De Guzman, nephews Mac McComb and Aidan McComb and two half-brothers.
I remember hearing that Chris had perfect pitch. Not sure if it was at Wilbur or Cubberley, but I recall challenging his tonal gift by whistling a note and asking him to identify it. He immediately named it even though my imperfect pitch failed me in knowing for sure. I walked away with a newly found appreciation for the hidden gifts we all possess.
Chris was a wonderful person to know: good natured, humorous, modest about his great talents, remarkably tolerant and understanding. Not for the first time, I realized how much I miss his friendship.
