This information was received from Susan Mann: "I do know it was a heart condition and that he was in his mid-30s. I believe it was something he was born with." Thank you, Susan.

The first time I heard that Greg had a heart condition was the day after it snowed in Palo Alto, in January 1961. Like all kids on this day, we all went out and played in the snow. The next day we heard that Greg's older brother died of a heart attack after getting overexcited playing in the snow. Greg had an operation to correct his congenital heart condition, that he and his brother both had. I remember that after his operation he came into class and did a show and tell in front of everyone, showing off his big long chest scar from open heart surgery.
I remember going to his house one day, with a crystal radio I just built. I asked for his help to get it set up and running. We were in need of a good ground for the radio, and I remember we hooked up a wire to the bathroom sink drain pipe at his house. Little did I know that may years later, I became a microwave radio engineer and built many of the Direct TV, Echostar, and Sirius Radio satellite payloads.
I just found out that Greg is no longer with us, so I say, Greg, Rest In Peace, my friend.
