Mark was born in Seattle WA, and moved with his family to California when he was 6 months old. He attended De Anza Elementary School, Wilbur Jr. High and Cubberley High School. After graduation, he took classes at both Foothill and DeAnza Community Colleges. In 1982, he started working for County Transit (later Santa Clara Valley Transportation Agency) as a coach operator, a job he enjoyed for over 29 years. He mostly worked out of the North Divsion located in Mountain View, driving the streets that were so familiar to him. He retired in 2011 in order to help provide assistance to his mother, who was disabled and living in assisted living after the death of his father in 2010. In 1987, he started dating Roberta Shearer, a fellow Cubberley classmate; they were married in 1991. They had no children but enjoyed their free time traveling. Transit wasn't just a vocation for Mark, but an avocation as well; he enjoyed riding local transit especially BART and Caltrain. He was also an avid sports fan, particularly of the San Francisco Giants and San Jose Sharks. Mark passed away on May 3, 2020, following a sudden heart attack. He is missed by his widow and many friends.

Roberta - thanks for sharing.  Sounds like Mark had a good full life, although cut short.  I remember Mark as a quiet guy but treated everyone with respect. My prayers to you as you move on with life without your lovely hubby.  from Cheryl Sampson Elliot (lived over on Bibbits Dr).

Roberta,

My memory of Mark was that of a quiet fellow who was kind and gentle.  I am glad to hear he found love and a fulfilling life.  His interest in public transportation brings a smile.

Thank you for sharing.

John
