Nancy Barnett (Black)

Nancy Kay Barnett Black, age 80, of Springfield, KY passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 4:19 p.m., at The Willows in Harrodsburg.

She was born in Orange County, Indiana on May 13, 1944 to the late Frank E. and Mary Lucille Lane Barnett.

She was a member of the Thompsonville Baptist Church where she served as pianist and organist for several years. Nancy was a 1962 graduate of Paoli, IN High School and was a graduate of the Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She was a retired teacher, having taught the health careers program at the Marion County Vocational School.  After retiring from teaching, she was employed by The Springfield Sun for several years.

Preceding her in death was a son, James Scott Black on November 11, 2022, twin infant grandsons, Bailey Thomas and Kemper Addison Black on October 28, 1998 and two brothers, Gary Barnett and Clyde Barnett.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-seven years, Glenn Black; a son, Eric Black of Austin, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Stacey Lee Milburn Black of Springfield; three grandchildren, Avery Black, Alexis Black and Isaac Black; two brothers, Wayne Barnett (Carolyn) and Frankie Barnett (Linda) both of Paoli; a sister, Lynn Barnett Williams (Harold) of Brighton, CO and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10 at the Carey & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Goss officiating.

Burial will be in the Peter Cemetery at Mackville.

Serving as pallbearers will be Avery Black, Allen Black, Mark Barnett, Greg Barnett, Joe Carpenter and Eric Stevens.

Visitation will be after 10:00 Monday morning until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Mackville Community Center or Peter Cemetery.
