Gerald F. Davina, 82, of Fair Lawn, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family,on Saturday February 27, 2021. He was born April 12, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY to Gennaro (Jerry) and Angelina Davina, and raised in the North Ward of Newark, graduating from Barringer High School, Class of 1956. He was a 1960 graduate of Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ, where he was also a member of the Pirates baseball team.

Gerald was a resident of Fair Lawn for the past 56 years. He was employed as a Physical Education teacher for the Paramus Board of Education for 36 years, retiring in 1999. He was a lifelong Yankees fan, and was also an employee at Yankee Stadium from 1988 to 2009, working security at the Press Gate, as well as in the Yankees’ clubhouse.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Eleanor (nee Hanley) and his seven children: Eleanor, and her husband Michael Takac of Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, Laura Grasso of Ridgewood, NJ, Gerald Davina, Jr. and Elyse Lutzi of Mahwah, NJ, Matthew, and his wife Katherine of Madison, NJ, Michael,and his wife Lori of Hardyston, NJ, John, and his wife Mollian of Pompton Lakes, NJ, and Joseph and his wife Allison of Paramus, NJ. He was predeceased in 2018 by his son-in-law, Jim Grasso, of Ridgewood, NJ.

He was also the proud grandfather of thirteen: Brendan, Elena, and Kevin Davina, Anna, Meghan, and Joseph Grasso, Gerald J., Johnny, and Julia Davina, Eugene, Patrick, and Karly-Ann Davina, & Luciano Davina. His 14th grandchild, a baby girl, is expected this coming August.
