In Memory

Sandi MacDonald (Cargill) - Class of 1965

Sandra "Sandi" MacDonald Cargill

Sandra MacDonald Cargill “Sandi” passed away in February 2024 at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ at the age of 76. Sandi was raised in Paramus, New Jersey and lived and worked most of her life there. She recently moved to the Township of Washington.

Sandi loved teaching and was an educator in the Paramus School District for over 30 years. There she made many close friends of colleagues and students. Sandi enjoyed hosting afternoons at her pool, outdoor BBQ’s, holiday dinners at her home, attending parties and dining out with the “Birthday Girls.”

After retirement, she and her husband, Michael, did a significant amount of travelling around the world and throughout the US. They were able to visit every continent and almost all the states. In addition, she continued to entertain at her home for many holidays and special occasions and held a “Lobster Fest” each year for a favorite friend. She also found time to volunteer at the Operation Goody Bag organization and a local Bergen County food bank. An avid reader, a NY Times crossword wizard and coordinator of many social events for her friends, Sandi most enjoyed dining out, playing Mah Jong, attending book club, and indulging her godchildren. She was extremely quick-witted and smart, generous and kind.

Sandi was pre-deceased by her devoted husband of 46 years, Michael Cargill. She leaves behind her loving sister, Patricia Casey and husband Kevin and her favorite nephew, Ryan Casey, her special friends and companions Carl and Kathy Bergquist and Gene and Jane Cosco. Sandi had a very special place in her heart for goddaughter Susie Bergquist, who she adored, and her caring godsons Tim and Kevin Dalton and their families. Although she lived with several serious health issues, she never complained and always remained close to her friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

If anyone would like to donate in her memory, one of her favorite charities was “No Kid Hungry” or to the charity of your choice.
