Barbara Maclean Hazen

April 25, 1947 - September 7, 2023

Barbara A. Hazen, 76, passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2023 with her loving family at her side. She was born in Union City, NJ to Robert and Ellen Maclean. The family moved to Paramus, NJ in 1959. 

After graduation from Paramus High School in 1965, Barbara attended the Parisan Beauty Academy in Hackensack, NJ and became a licensed beautician in 1966. She was employed by Josephs Salon de Beaute in Emerson and worked there until 1970. 

Barbara met her husband, Alex Hazen in the summer of 1967 and went on their first date when Alex was on military leave from the Army. Thats when the romance began. They dated a little over a year before getting married on November 16, 1968. Barbara and Alex settled in Fair Lawn and then moved to Washington Township, where they raised their two children Michael and Dawn. In fact Barbara and Alex continue to live in Washington Township till this day. Once the kids were born, Barbara decided to retire from the salon to become a fulltime housewife so she could be home to take care of her children. She made sure she was there to see them off to school and greet them as they came home. Barbara and Alex enjoyed a loving marriage of 54 years before her passing.

Barbara loved to shop, go out with friends and travel, especially to Georgia to visit her daughter and family. But most of all, she loved spending time with her four grandchildren. They were the center of her universe. Barbara is predeceased by her parents (Robert and Ellen Maclean) and is survived by her beloved husband Alex and her loving daughter Dawn (Alex) and son Michael (Christine). She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Grace, Alexander, Joey and Charlie; her sisters Peggy (Vincent) and Ellen (John), her brother in law Harold (Kathy), and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  

Interment at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
