Barbara Olender (Mimmo) - Class of 1962

Barbara Ann Olender Mimmo

Barbara, 79, of Paramus, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024 after a long battle with scleroderma. (She was a true warrior). Born October 30, 1944 in Jersey City. She attended Paramus High School, class of 62. After high school she became an airline stewardess for Pan America Airlines. She married in 1967 and settled down in Paramus.

Cherished wife of Michael. Loving mother of Michael Mimmo Jr. and his wife Sonya, and Mark Mimmo. Treasured grandmother of Michael, Giulia, and Christopher. Predeceased by her brother, Teddy Olender and her parents Theodore and Catherine Olender.

Her love for her family was boundless. She especially enjoyed being a grandmother. She attended every game, match, meet, event and competition with love and admiration, cheering her grandchildren on lovingly and relentlessly. She found great love and fulfillment in her 58-year marriage to her husband Michael. Her passion for cooking brought joy to family gatherings, while her hobbies, such as playing tennis, cheering for football, enjoying card games, reading, and caring for animals enriched her life. Before retiring, Barbara worked at Bergen Regional Medical Center as an addiction counselor for 15 years where she helped many get back on the road to recovery. Barbara had a loving heart and a beautiful spirit. She will be greatly missed by so many.

Family will receive friends on Monday August 12, 2024 from 9:00 am - 11:00am at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 S Farview Avenue, Paramus, followed by an 11:30 am Funeral Mass at Annunciation R.C Church 50 W Midland Ave Paramus.
