Ellen Patricia Thorp Meixner
October 19, 1950 - January 30, 2025
Ellen Patricia Meixner, age 74, passed away Thursday January 30, 2025, at her home in Murrells Inlet, SC, surrounded by her family.
Formerly of Vernon, NJ, Ellen was born in Manhattan, NY, the daughter of the late Catherine and Lawrence Thorp.
She enjoyed volunteering at the food pantry at the Vernon United Methodist Church in Vernon, NJ, and helping senior citizens in her community. She was awarded Senior of the Year for Vernon, NJ, in 2021, and the Hometown Hero Award from the U.S. House of Representatives Fifth District in 2022. In 2023, Ellen and her Husband Bob moved to Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.
In addition to her parents, Ellen is preceded in death by her sister, Catherine Griggs and her brother, Kenneth Thorp.
Survivors include her loving husband, Robert L. Meixner (PHS Class of 1967); sons, Eric Meixner and his wife Molly; Brian Meixner and his wife Veronica; Chris Meixner and his wife Rachel; Matt Meixner and Tyler Meixner; 5 grandchildren, Kendall, Chase, Cooper, Jordan and Liam; brother, Lawrence Thorp and his wife Regina; sister, Jeanine Thorp-Gozdz and her husband Henry; six nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Ellen’s Life is planned for 10:00 a.m. on June 14th 2025 at Vernon United Methodist Church, 303 Route NJ-94, Vernon Township, NJ 07462.
