Leonard "Lenny" Allen Koch
August 2, 1956 – September 20, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our brother, Leonard (Lenny) Allen Koch, Abbie Yisrael, age 69, of East Rutherford, New Jersey who passed away on September 20, 2025.
Lenny was born August 2, 1956, in Frankfurt, Germany to the late Army Colonel Hyman David Koch DDS and Sylvia K. Koch (née Karr). Growing up, we shared countless experiences: castle hopping in the Alps, exploring Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, sailing in the Middle East, and building forts in our backyards; just a few of our many adventures while traveling with our parents as a military family.
Lenny became fluent in German, was introduced to soccer and continued to play at Paramus High School where he graduated in 1974. He went on to earn his B.A. from Rider College in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, in 1978.
Upon graduation, Lenny's career in printing began with Conceptual Lithography in Manhattan and continued until his retirement in 2020 from Unimac in East Rutherford, NJ. Lenny took great pride in his career, becoming an expert in all phases of print and digital production.
Lenny's hobbies included drawing and sketching. He was a music enthusiast and a self-taught organist. He loved sharing his newest musical compositions with his nieces. He became a literal encyclopedia of rock and roll. Though he was selective in his cuisine choices, his favorite restaurant, El Bandido, always welcomed him as a true V.I.P. He was known for his quick wit, sense of humor, and the way he could always make everyone around him laugh with his jokes and stories.
He is survived by his sisters, Susan Judy (Glenn) Friedman of Saint Petersburg, Florida and Amy Koch Singer of Nashua, New Hampshire, nieces Lindsay (Josh) Flanagan of Londonderry, New Hampshire, Stephanie (Rick) Butler of Scituate, Massachusetts, Leah (Oliver) Fernandez of Washington, D.C., and Samantha (Robert) Costello of Okinawa, Japan.
