Mrs. Maria Scalera
1938 - 2021
Maria Scalera, 83, life long resident of Paramus, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on Monday, December 27, 2021. Before retiring, Maria worked for the Borough of Fair Lawn as an accountant. Prior to working in Fair Lawn she was a teacher's aide at the ECC Early Childhood Center at Paramus HS. She also worked in the Finance Department for the Borough of Paramus. She was a member of the Paramus Senior Center. She was an active and faithful parishioner of Annunciation RC Church, Paramus.
Cherished wife for 59 years of Louis. Loving mother of Buddy Scalera and his wife Janet. Treasured grandmother of Danielle & Nicole Scalera. Dear sister of Ann (Richard) DeSimone and Rita (Bill) Hoisik. She was an aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister, Barbara Fazio. Maria organized bus trips to Atlantic City and provided sandwiches for the ride. She had a passion for reading, sewing, playing cards, traveling and cruising. She was an excellent cook and a devoted grandmother. Above all, she was deeply devoted to her family.
