If somebody asks me how I best remember Ramon, I'd probably answer this.

He is our strict Corp Commander in Senior Year. He is so strict that I dare not disobey anything he commands.

One time during a Saturday formation, I really felt sick. And in the middle of the drills, I gathered all courage to walk in front of the quadrangle, face Ramon, stand there very stiffly, and salute(of course)in respect. He asked me in a soldier kind of way what I wanted. I answered so quietly in a whisper, because I felt so embarrased, that my tummy really hurts.

I think he saw the anguish of pain in my face for his voice suddenly became kind when he commanded me to fall out of formation and rest.

So how do I best remember Ramon? He is one of the kindest person in class, as far as I know. :-)

This guy is one of a kind! People close to him calls him OKLABS or PUSIT because of the shape of his head. The prodigy of Mr. Balce? His forceful voice and wacky antics sometimes makes him goofy... "HARAP SA HARAP...". Great athlete as well, I will definitely not forget his basketball form.

I met his youngest brother (can't remember the name) at the funeral in LA and I was surprised to know that days before he passed away, Mon spoke to him about me and wanted to see me, but since they don't know my whereabouts, it never happened. I was touched by this considering that I haven't seen nor spoke to him in nearly 20 year.

Thanks for all the memories my good friend!

Ramon's personality and character were like of a protective big brother. I don't have an older brother so given the chance, I would want someone just like him. He was also a funny guy so it's all wonderful memories for me about him.

We miss you Ramon...

He may be considered a strict Corp Commander but I never hesitated to talk to him to see if I could get out of line during those Saturday drills, to stay in the shade and get a drink of water.

He had that signature walk and stern look but also had a smile that could melt your heart.

Thanks for being a friend, Mon. We miss you.

Mon was the President of YCLC (Young Christian Leaders Club, I think ?) with Sis Isabel and I was his able side-kick as the vice-President for a number of years.

Mon was ever the gentleman even way back then. When things were too much or too difficult or too long for the rest of us to do, the "kuya" would step in and he'd do it for us :)

I never once remember him get mad or annoyed at us when we monkey around in our meetings. Because he was a little older than the rest of us, I think he was more patient that the usual guys in our class.

He was strict esp during CAT / COCC, but he was always kind and helpful! He had a way of making what "bothered" us seem trivial -- he was also pretty funny !!He would always be quick to the punch when he hears a joke !

oh my gosh. memories of ramon. so many. he was one of my "tutees" (him and nap) sa math in freshman year. that was fun. that dry sense of humor of his. in senior year he would actually give me advice about a certain guy he knew i liked. he made a lot of sense, most of the time anyway. hah. good ol' ramon. i talked to him last in '93 (or was that '97?) when i came home. i called him because i was staying in malabon with my in-laws and found out he was also in malabon, and i figured since we were in the same area we could meet up. but he refused -- later i found out from Val that he didn't want to see people because of his condition... we miss you, monay :(
