RE: Letter

Hi Roddy,

I would so love to be there in August, but alas it is not in the works for me. Maybe for our 50th. I was stunned to see so many already passed. Some not listed as passed which I was certain I had heard they were.

At any rate, even though I will not be able to attend I would like to make a comment regarding the last reunion I attended. It was I think perhaps our 25th or 30th and what I didn't like about it was there was no function for just the class of '65, like a banquet. I did run into a lot of the class at the dances but it was so loud it was just too difficult to visit. And it was nice to catch up with other class mates from other classes.

Anyway you were asking for suggestions and this is one I have held on to for all these years! I felt like I just didn't want to attend another like it. I would have loved seeing you.

In August, I will be getting on a plane to fly from Tucson to Minneapolis to attend the 45th reunion of my class of 1965 at Park Rapids Area High School. This is scary and exciting, nerve-wracking and exhilarating. It's an event that many have been planning for more than a year.
High school was definitely NOT the happiest time of my life. I longed to get away from Park Rapids, Minnesota, where all seemed so homogeneous and competitive. As you were graduating in Park Rapids, I was getting my GED diploma in Fergus Falls. Still feeling a part of my class, (all of the "Kids I had grown up with"), in the end, we had all made it- & we had graduated!
At the reunion, I hope I'll recognize my fellow classmates. And, I'm notoriously bad with names- I can hardly remember those of my own children!
I know from getting reacquainted on Facebook or other means, that we have not changed that much in looks. What has delighted me was how we've all traveled in different directions and survived a stunning variety of challenges.
As teenagers we all seemed pretty much alike. As 63 year-olds, there are plenty of classmates whose lives are filled with grandchildren, golf, tennis and going south for the winter. Some of us can describe ourselves as raising our own grandchildren, writing movie scripts or poetry, surviving cancer, leading congregations, missions, Bible study groups and pilgrimages. Some of us have suffered loss of a spouse through death or divorce and some have found love later in life. Some are currently struggling with disability or disease, but still fighting to appear at this reunion.
In our adult lives, my generation has lived through the most momentous changes in history- the sexual revolution, the civil rights movement, political associations, Vietnam, equal rights for women and the technological revolution.
We basically invented teenagers and rock'n'roll. Now we're working out new ways to cope with old age.
Now is the time to come together again to share what we have learned!
Please help us make this reunion a memorable occasion. Help us locate our classmates...
Fill out your profile...
Send us your photos...
Send us your prayer requests...
View the school apparel store...
Send us your ideas for our very own class get together...
Any hints for a fun filled reunion

Reunion Ideas anyone?

Do we have any musicians, clergy, photographers....

Maybe we could have our own performance for the evening!

Maybe we could go fishing & we could have a fish fry!

Do we want to put a memory book together?

Do we want to have a dinner & a dance?

Do we want to do an organized bike ride?

Are we going to do a float for the Sunday parade?

Does anyone have any prizes to donate?
