People like Alvin are pretty rare. There was a time when I was in one of life's struggles and to this day I believe God sent Alvin to help me. He was that kind of guy: go out of his way to help a friend. We lost touch after that but his reaching out to me has made me a better person.

When I was 5 we moved to Altadena from Pasadena and the first
friend I had on the block was 5 year Alvin, we went to the same schools
sometimes the same classes went into Marshall then into PHS together.
Dated some of the same girls and new life from both of us growing up as
close friends. He worked for my father at Tatum's nersery from the time he
was 14 to into his early 20's. He was a good friend and very supportive during
are formaing years and latter became deicated man to his wife and family.
He passed at 48 years old very much like his father who passed at 50. When
you find out that who you grew up with is gone it forever brings back the best
of memories. I belive that Alvin went back home to God to relax and truly be
at home and to see things as God does.
His friend forever,
Larry Tatum
