Excerpts from Arcadia Tribune - 05/17/1973

A Glendora woman, Mrs, Rebecca Dawald, 24, was killed instantly Wednesday morning in a collision at Second Avenue and Duarte Road, Arcadia. According to the police report, Mrs. Dawald, southbound on Second Avenue, had stopped for a red signal. After apparently receiving the green signal, she pulled into the inter-section and collided with a west-bound City Refuse Service truck. Her automobile was knocked approximately [cannot decipher] feet down Duarte Road. Mrs. Dawald. eight months pregnant, was pronounced dead on arrival at Arcadia Methodist Hospital by Dr. Merlon Alexander. Her unborn baby died with her. It would have been her first child.
