

Shirley Anne Sakahara was born Dec. 18, 1943 in Whitefish, Montana to Yosh & Mariko Sakahara. She lived with her parents, her six siblings and her grandmother, at 1200 North 9th Street, Payette. Shirley attended West Side Elementary School, Payette Junior High & High School. She graduated with our class from Payette High School in 1962. Shirley participated in band her first three years of high school and FHA her senior year. Shirley was elected Treasurer of Library Club in her senior year. Shirley's goal was "Teaching in a library." Shirley always did the best she could and she had a cheerful attitude. Shirley was married to Douglas Hummer in 1968 at Payette. They divorced in 1977 in Tulare, California.
A year after her father died, Shirley Sakahara Hummer passed away May 16, 1993, at Bingham, County, Idaho. Shirley was survived by her mother Mari Sakahara, her siblings Carol Appleton, Patty Iseri, Debbie Briggs, Tina Glancey, Michael and Robert Sakahara. Shirley's ashes were placed alongside her parents' at Evergreen Cemetery, Ontario, Malheur County, Oregon.
