Mrs. Stillwell's Slayer Given Life in Prison Following Guilty Plea
PAYETTE - Wade Douglas Hinz, 19, Payette, was sentenced to life imprisonment Friday on a charge of second degree murder in the New Year's day slaying of Mrs. Minnie Stillwell.
Hinz entered a plea of guilty before Judge Robert B. Dunlap after the charge was reduced from first to second degree murder. Prosecutor Dwaine Welch agreed to the change.
Hinz had confessed to the stabbing of Mrs. Stillwell, 85, who died Jan. 6 without being able to identify her attacker.
She said she awoke to find a man in her bedroom early in the morning of New Year's day.
Hinz also pleaded guilty to charges of first degree burglary and forgery and was sentenced to concurrent 14 year terms on each charge.
Defense attorney Nick Speropolous, Weiser, said Hinz had a mental condition and should receive psychiatric treatment in prison.
