Authorities have identified the man shot and killed outside a Pemberton Township motel Sunday night as a Darryl Baker, 28, who he had been living for the last six weeks.Baker was killed Sunday night outside his room at the Pine Village Motel on Lakehurst Road, said Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi and Pemberton Township Police Chief Robert Lewandowski. Authorities did not make any arrests in the homicide today. Police were called to the 24-unit motel at about 8:30 p.m. where they found Baker dead of an apparent gunshot wound. Detectives from Pemberton and the prosecutor’s Major Crime Unit are investigating. Tom Inge, a township councilman, owns the motel and knew the victim and his family while Baker was growing up in Pemberton. He said he believes Baker was in his room playing video games before he was killed. “He was never a problem,” Inge said of the victim. “…”He’s been here and I haven’t had any problems. He goes to work in the morning he comes home in the evening. He has a couple of friends over and they usually play video games.” Authorities are asking anyone with information to call the Major Crimes Unit at 609-265-5058 during the day or 609-265-7113 after hours and ask for a detective.
