Clifford Dixon III July 18, 1971 - August 9, 2008 LEESBURG, GA — Clifford Dixon III, affectionately known as "Chucky", 37, of Leesburg, GA, died Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany, GA. The funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Oakridge Baptist Church, 1708 West Oakridge Drive in Albany, GA with Pastor Richard Pogue officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Albany. Visitation is Friday at Meadows Funeral Home, 315 Madison Street, Albany, GA 229-439-2262. Mr. Dixon was born in Columbus, GA on July 18, 1971, son of the late Lilla and Clifford Dixon, Jr. He attended Mother Mary School from kindergarten to eighth grade. He was a 1989 graduate of Hardaway High School. In 1989 he joined the U.S. Army Reserves resulting in a tour of service in Desert Storm. Mr. Dixon attended Albany State University and decided to make lower Georgia his home. He was a counselor by trade. Although his vocation entailed working with adults; at times he cherished working with the youth in the Juvenile Justice System and the young adults at Oakridge Baptist Church. An avid reader and man of wisdom, we will remember him as an excellent minister, listener, a wonderful counselor and a loving friend who shared himself with many. Survivors include his loving wife, Chanel Dixon of Leesburg, GA; two children: a son, Devonte Scott of Leesburg, GA and Jaire Dixon of Bainbridge, GA; two sisters, Antoinette Rodriguez and Annette Dixon of Phenix City, AL; grandmother, Katherine Dixon of Rockford, IL; a great aunt, Nadine Woodruff of Columbus, GA; two uncles, Joseph (Mary) Dixon of Cherryville, IL and Walter Haines of Columbus, GA; three aunts, Lou Reed and Bertha Foster of Columbus, Classie Morris of Syracuse, N.Y.; two nephews, Antwan Rodriguez and Micah Dixon; a niece, Sammeka Times of Phenix City, AL; and a host of relatives and friends.
