2/12/09 Eric will be missed by us as the reunion comes closer. The timing of this tragic event couldn't be worse. But we belive he would want us to continue having fun reconnecting with each other. Be thankful that you were able to do that with him, either in person or via this site. Cherish the memories and our prayers go out to his family and friends.
Eric's family has requested that any donations be made to either Hadassah, Make a Wish or Lymphoma/Leukemia Foundations.

Dear Eric,You were among a small but very special group of my oldest and closest friends. There were so many experiences that were shared together over the decades as kids , then as adults. When I think about many of those wonderful memories , it makes me smile. I don't know if you even realized how comical you could be at times ,and then serious ,caring, and professional when you needed to be. I can't even comprehend that I am writing on this page .
I will miss my friend ,but honor you by remembering you always .

Dear Eric,You've been in my thoughts all week. I'm so glad we got to reconnect, ever so briefly, through this site. I was so looking forward to seeing you soon. I have wonderful memories of us as kids, and it seems that you have truly grown into a wonderful, gentle man. Your love for your daughters and family are obvious. Your love for friends can be seen and felt in every picture you are in. It is unfair.
I told Mikey to watch for you, that you are one of the "good guys." My heart is open to you. Your family and friends will be in my thoughts.
With much love and peace,
Barbara Marmelstein Landau

Dear Eric - I guess God called upon another one of his Great Ones to help him in his vast endeavors, help Him to watch and care after His children. I'm so sorry that He needed you at such a young age.I can remember like it was yesterday when some of the kids in the neighborhood would have a "get-together" at your house. We would eat and ALWAYS dance. You were such a good dancer. You had such a cute wiggle. And, boy, you were the best Bristol Stomper out of all the boys. Your mom was a great hostess and she cherished ALL of your friends.
My heart goes out to ALL of your friends and family. Your memories will always be in our souls. With deepest sympathy, your friend, Debbie

I can't believe that I'm writing about Eric in the section. It still seems unreal. From hearing his daughters speak, Eric was an awesome Dad. He was loving, caring and devoted.I am so sorry that I won't get to see him again.
He will always have a place in my heart, and I will think of him every time I come to the website or think about the old neighborhood.(or wash my car.)
He will truly be missed by many.
Heaven just got one wonderful person.

Our Neighborhood, Our Friend EricAs we come together in 2009 we are many and we are one
Of our parents’ northward migration we are daughter and we are son
We came of age at 2nd and Cheltenham and grew under God’s guiding sun
Our strength is in our love and synergy, we celebrate life ongoing – never done
When one of us gets hurt or falls, we each feel the sting of life’s strange bend
We celebrated the triumphant life of Eric Birnbaum, to us a loving brother and a friend
Today we mourn his violent passing, our wrenching hearts trying to mend
We stand ready to comfort and help his family, to their suffering we will tend
We are strong and we are durable when tragedy paints our world so awful
We can rely on each other’s supple shoulders to make the fall a little less painful
We are angry, we are hurting, we’re horrified of this outrageous act so sinful
To take the life of our friend, our brother, who strived to make others’ lives more gainful
Someday we will overcome our grief as Eric forever remains an important part of us
We’ll revel in his joy for life that no unforeseen bump or detour could ever bust
We’ll see that mirthful grin, his smiling eyes, and a soothing voice we could always trust
We’ll speak of him and what he means to our lives in voices proud and true -- we must
You will always be in our thoughts, prayers and hearts, Eric.
