Sherri was one of my very best friends from our days at Pickett Middle school, to our DECA classes at Gtown and into adulthood raising our children who were almost matched in age. I remember being so annoyed that she would call me at least 3 days a week at 6 in the morning just to see what I was doing, but now I'd give anything to have the phone ring and have her on the other end.
I remember we shared a locker at Germantown and someone broke in and stole both our coats and we had to use these crazy looking coats from the lost and found. We were so embarrassed, we stayed in the building until everyone left and ducked behinds cars so no one would see us until we got to Pickett and got a ride home from Mrs. Pollard.
We shared laughter and tears. I would just fall out laughing when she would break out in song whenever she was trying to get a point across and couldn't find the words! She had such a heavy voice that it was always hilarious! She was like a sister to me and there will be a void in my heart forever. Sherri is survived by her husband Melvin, daughters Jeniece and Stephanie, stepson Lonnie, three grandchildren, her mother, two sisters and a brother, and a host of nieces and nephews.
May you RIP, it saddens me to just find out of her passing, she was a good person and funny at times, she used to live next door to my DEAREST BEST FRIEND, Ms. Ellensworth..RIP
