So sorry to inform you that we lost another one of our classmates, Leon Tschepikiewski. May his memory be a blessing to all of us. May he rest in peace.
Leon “Ski” Tschepikiewski of Perkasie, Pa., passed away Oct. 30, 2018, from complications of a stroke while on vacation in Sydney, Australia. He was 71. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Joan (Halloran) Tschepikiewski. Leon was the son of the late Anna and Dimitri Tschepikiewski. “Ski”, as he was affectionately known, was raised in Philadelphia and graduated from Olney High School in 1965. He immediately entered the U.S. Marine Corps where he bravely served for four years with tours in Vietnam, Morocco and Germany, and became a Kennel Master in the K-9 unit. Ski enlisted in the USAF Reserves in 1983, and served at Willow Grove AFB. He retired in 2007, as a Senior Master Sergeant. He leaves behind several dear friends from the 913th Security Police Force where he was dubbed “McGyver” for his ability to find a solution for any issue that arose when they were in the field or on maneuvers. He was recalled to duty on 9/11 and served two years on call at Willow Grove AFB. He worked as a printing press operator at Paramount Packaging in Chalfont for 20 years then continued that profession at Fres-co System USA in Telford before retiring in 2014. Ski continued his education by taking night courses at Bucks County Community College and earned an Associate’s degree in Business Administration in 2000. He enjoyed bow hunting in his earlier years and target shooting with his two brothers and nephew in the past few years. His pride and joy were his few acres of land in Bedminster Township which he lovingly referred to as “the south forty”. He enjoyed raising his German shepherds with his daughter and was very skilled at training his dogs. He has gone too soon but he will never be forgotten by his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Joan, he is survived by his children, Kellina Parkinson and Cory Tschepikiewski; his granddaughter, Lexxis; his stepsons, Jonathan Leslie and Robert Leslie; his brothers and sister, Anthony Tschepikiewski (Cindy), Walter Tschepikiewski (Susan), and Valentina Kanter (Allen); and his nieces and nephews, Stefanie, Lauren and Nicholas, Nathan, and Philip. Ski will also be sadly missed by his myriad of in-laws in Australia who thought the world of him. May he rest in peace. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Leon’s visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Joseph A. Fluehr, III Funeral Home, (at Sandy Ridge Rd.) New Britain, PA 18901, and from 10 a.m. until the start of his funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at St. Peters Lutheran Church, 211 S. Main St., North Wales, PA 19454. His interment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. www.fluehr.com
