Hey Jim, I completely agree with you—100%. Pretty much everyone operates on the ‘WIFM’ principle: What’s In It For Me? Most of what we do in life boils down to that self-interest question.
Money leads to power, and power often circles back to even more money. The real problem kicks in when people lose their moral compass and climb into positions of real influence. Once there, they tend to wield that power in ways that are mostly unethical or self-serving.
Take Congress as an example—wouldn’t you say something like 95% of them fit this pattern? Public perception often paints a similar picture, with polls showing majorities viewing many members as corrupt, overly focused on special interests, or out of touch. It’s a tough cycle to break.
If I ever win the huge billion dollar lottery, you'll all be invited to come live on my island where we throw away the cell phones and our biggest entertainment will be betting on what time the liquor barge arrives on Wednesdays to restock, along with rotating out a great library of books.
