Dale, you will always be the Best Fighter Pilot that the Air Force ever had.  Your untimely death during Desert Shield/Desert Storm was a shock -- Mark Skroch heard about it on CNN and then immediately called at 0200.  I was soon at Shaw AFB to attend your memorial service, signing in for our JROTC Third Battalion.

I still think about you and have the pictures you sent.  I'll always remember our discussions in West Hi's bleachers and your aspirations to become an astronaut.  You would've made it had there not been a change in plans.  You would've been a great Chief of Staff.

You built the best aquarium ever and your wife Shelly loved you dearly.  You also have a special spot in the history of the 3BN that was written for the 50th Anniversary of our JROTC unit, observed in February 2000.  The cadets at Central High (where our unit transferred to when West Hi closed) will always read about you and see you in your fighter attire.  You'll forever be a living reminder of what one can achieve with endurance and a high aim.

Thank you for being in our lives, those of us Thunderbirds and especially of those in JROTC.  You made us better people.
