I met Frank his Freshman year (71/72) in ROTC when I was a Junior. That year I was his Company and Drill Team Commander as well as his JV Rifle Team Commander.  We had two fun years in ROTC and his excellent marksmanship helped make it possible for us to win the Phoenix Varsity Rifle Competition in 73 with a perfect kneeling score.  We have kept our friendship alive and close these past 46 years.  Missing my first wedding because of his Army service in Germany, he was however my Best Man for my second wedding.  Always a smile and with his mischievous laugh could put a smile on your face too.  One of the greatest pranks pulled on my wife was when they first met.  Frank's occupation was a glazier, but when asked by my wife "that's nice, but just what is a glazier?  Frank's answer was "that he's the one who puts the sugar glaze on the doughnuts".  Believe it or not, she actually believed him and for a number of years believed that's what he really did.  After five or so years believing this, Frank & I finally told her what a glazier really did, she didn't believe us, arguing that we were pulling her leg.  As a testament to his character and friendship, a high school friend living on the east coast, upon hearing that Frank had passed, attend his memorial service in Phoenix.  In short, it was an honor to know him and his family all these years.  He was a big part of my life and he will always be missed.

I remember Frank. We were on the rifle team together our senior year. He was a nice guy. I'm sad to hear of his passing.

Frank McGan, Dan Perry, Ron Jackway, and Mark Savarese had a tremendous lifelong impact upon me.  They all lived on Mount Olympus and it was Frank who controlled visitor access.

We, your JROTC friends, will always remember you, Frank.  Thank you for firing the imaginations of us freshman cadets who looked up to you.  In turn, we'll each catch you on the other side.
