David Lamparter

Obituaries in Phoenix, AZ | The Arizona Republic

David Robert Lamparter was proud of his Arizona roots. As a child, he enjoyed sports, particularly baseball, and spent his summers playing little league. He greatly admired his grandfather, Lon, and his fondest childhood memories included visiting him in Northern Arizona where they would fish and play on his grandparent’s ranch. David attended Camelback High School where he excelled as a member of the varsity basketball and baseball teams. He went on to attend the University of Nevada at Reno on a full baseball scholarship as a pitcher but a shoulder injury caused him to complete his undergraduate degree at Arizona State University. He later earned his Masters of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Professionally, he was as successful in his chosen field as he was on the Camelback High School baseball diamond. His career spanned decades in health care finance and administration, including serving as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of John C. Lincoln Hospital, which later with his efforts merged with Scottsdale Healthcare and became known as HonorHealth. David showed his character during this merger by looking beyond the numbers and looking out for the effect it would have on the people. He also cherished his time volunteering as a board member at Desert Mission Food Bank. His work, though, always placed second to the love of his life and best friend, Lynn, and their children and grandchildren. He wrote weeks before his death to Lynn and their children: “The most important things to live for are my wife, eight kids, and seven grandkids.” He was happiest at family dinner nights where he spoiled his family with the best steaks, his favorite salad, and the finest red wines. When not preparing spreadsheets, looking for the best deal, doting on his dogs, or hosting family dinners, David maintained a close-to-scratch handicap on the golf course. He simply excelled at everything he did. And what he excelled at most was enriching the lives of those around him. His devotion to family and friends alike, his untiring work ethic, and dry sense of humor were second to none. David is survived by his wife, Lynn; his mother, Jean; his brother, Keith (Monica); his daughter, Sydney (Jake); his sons, William (Kathryn), Daniel (Mary), and Patrick (Ashley); and seven grandchildren: Charlotte, Bennett, Nora, Emilia, John, Adelyn, and Makenna. David was predeceased in death by his father, Robert. A celebration of life will be held at Hansen Mortuary (8314 N. 7th Street) on Friday, April 19 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to UNICEF (https://www.unicef.org) or Desert Mission Food Bank (https://www.desertmission.com/food-bank/) in David’s memory. Dave was a great athlete and a great person.  I had a good time competing with Dave in little league summer baseball for several years starting at the age of 8.  I couldn't wait to turn 8 so I could play, and Dave was a stud.   I remember his Dad as an excellent coach for us kids. We had some great competitions as he went to Monte Vista School and I went to Squaw Peak. Those were phenomenal days and very good memories.  Peace be with you David and rest in peace!   Keith Miller
