Rob was one of those guys that was a homeroom classmate from Meadows. I don't know why, but I seem to remember him being a big fan of the kansas jayhawks when we were in the 7th grade. After losing track of him for a few years, we reconnected when he came back to Phoenix after living in the Buffalo. He described, in detail, lake effect snow and was very happy to be back in the desert. Rob remained friends with his pals from Meadows and Centra,. and he spoke about all of you every time I saw him. His closest pals haven't yet signed in here. However, I know you all and I've heard terrific stories about all of you. Rob was very ill at the end, but he always faced the challenges with a very quiet sense of humor. He was devoted to his family and those near him at the end made him a very happy guy.
Robbie was one of my closest friends, from Madison Meadows through high school and for a while thereafter. His home was almost a second home for me. I loved his mom and dad, and grandfather and grandmother. I still remember his phone number: Windsor 3-4486. We shared a love of the Los Angeles Dodgers and a boyhood crush on the actress, Hayley Mills. Robbie was not happy when she had her first onscreen kiss. He and I were once busted by the police for trespassing in the grapefruit orchard across the street from his house. The officer burst into almost uncontrolled laughter when we led him to the site of our crime and had to confess that we were playing with Robbie's Army men collection. We were a bit too old for that activity but summertime boredom had driven us into the Kehm's storage room, and . . . Robbie had a great music collection, way beyond just the popular music of the day. He loved movie soundtracks and I can't hear the theme track from The Magnificent Seven, among others, without thinking of him. Rest in peace, my friend.
Robbie was a close friend all of his adult life .We met when we both signed up for freshman football at Central .His death was a big shock to me. We shared so many good and not so good times.He was a big help to me when I had my health scare with M S. I miss him.
