With sorrow I report another name to be added to the In Memory list.
Roger Gilbert passed In 2009. He was a wonderful guy from the time we met at Central to the times we met again as opposing lawyers. I will not forget the time in high school he took a couple of us to his aunts house, she was Amanda Blake, Kitty on gunsmoke. We got to touch her pet tiger or maybe it was a lion, really big cat in any event.She was as nice and gracious as the rest of the Gilbert family.I never heard Roger say a unkind word or saw or head of him doing an unkind act. He was a true gentleman. He was survived by his wife a couple sons and grand kids. Taken too soon and sorely missed. Jim Hart

Roger Gilbert was a good friend who I knew primarily through Bobby Day. We played tackle football in a vacant lot near Roger's house with his older brother and Roger joined Bobby and me a number of times to play golf. Golf was not Roger's sport. Once when Roger was teeing off, I was standing to his right and 1-2 steps in front of him - big mistake. Roger hit the ball straight off the end of the driver right at me. I ducked as fast as I could and the ball grazed the top of my head as it went by (it didn't have too much velocity since it was hit fat too). We all laughed at the time and I learned to stay behind Roger when he teed off, ha! My wife and I got together with Roger and his wife a couple of times in 2007 when Roger moved up here to Gig Harbor, WA. Barry Bernell gave me his phone number when I was in Phoenix and told me Roger was having some memory problems at work. Apparently he moved here to get treatment at the UW Medical Center. I invited his wife and him out to dinner and a few weeks later a boat ride around Lake Washington to see Bill Gates' House and the houseboat in the movie, Sleepless in Seattle. Stephanie lives on Lake Washington and her husband Lyle is always willing to take friends of the family out for a boat ride. It was great reconnecting with Roger. He still remembered a lot of our mutual friends from Meadows and Central. He was such a nice guy. It is so sad to see friends pass away at such an early age.
