Joseph (Joe) Vales, 59, devoted husband and father, passed away Thursday, November 5, 2009 at his home. Joe, a Saint Mary's High School and NAU Alumni, was a Phoenix Firefighter (Ret.) and Saint Mary's football coach. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Pattie (Baker), son JJ, wife Ashley, daughter Megan, and grandson Robby. He is also survived by his siblings Bob and Jim Vales, Joanne Owens, their spouses and several nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Marcella Vales, and brothers Dick and Jack Vales.

Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Saint Mary's Basilica, 231 N. 3rd Street, Phoenix, AZ 85006. A reception and celebration of Joe's life will follow at Saint Mary's High School, 2525 N. 3rd Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008. Memorial donations may be sent to Saint Mary's Catholic High School, 2525 N. 3rd Street, Phoenix, AZ 85008 in memory of Joe Vales.
