Christopher "Chris" Edling

Christopher Chris Edling

Christopher Robin Edling of Monticello, NY passed away on December 31, 2018 at the Nyack Ridge Nursing Home at the age of 68.

Chris, more often known by many as Christopher Robin, was born on October 5, 1950 in East Cleveland, Ohio.  He attended grade school in Cleveland and high school in Scottsdale, Arizona.  He went on to graduate with an Associates degree from Miami Dade Community College and earn a Bachelor’s degree from Florida State as a history major.

He is survived by a sister, Barbara Webber of Halifax, Nova Scotia and predeceased by his mother, father, step-father and a brother.

Chris led a colorful and multifaceted life.  He came to Sullivan County in the early 1970’s and worked at the Grossingers Hotel as the head timekeeper until 1985.  He then went to work for County Abstract Corp. from 1985 to 2000 and after that was self-employed as a title abstractor.  During his later years at Grossingers, and into his tenure at County Abstract, Chris also worked as a DJ and is probably best remembered by many for his time at Roark’s Tavern doing the popular Name that Tune show.  He also did radio work and trivia nights at other area establishments.

Anyone who knew Chris was aware of his great love of history, sports, music, and scotch.  He had an incredible memory.  He was always happy to share his knowledge and enjoyed asking friends and colleagues trivia questions on a variety of topics.
