Jim was another of our Maryland school graduates. I didn't know him well but I do remember him as being funny and cheerful. He was part of the fabric of all of our childhoods...sharing classes, recess, school dances, etc. Rest in peace Jim.
James was in my sixth grade class at Maryland School taught by Mr. Bloom. I spent time with him that included sleep-overs, exploring places by bicycle, walking home from schoolo together and so on.. We wrote a short story together that was included in our newsletter from that year. (By the way, I don't have a copy of that newsletter with the story. If you happen to have one, would you kindly make a copy for me? I would be eternally indebted to you! My email is: robertshapiro@yahoo.com). I was really shocked when James' older brother told me about his death when I spoke to him at my parent's B&R store around 1977. I do not know and can't imagine the manner of his death. It is especially sad to see the names of those from our class who died so young.
James was one of our yearbook photographers Junior and Senior years. He and I worked at Kilgore Graphics, a graphic arts company in downtown Phoenix, our Senior year as part of our Industrial Cooperative Education class (ICE). Every time we look at the Panorama we can all thank James for taking many of those nostalgic photos that help us remember our days at WHS. Thanks James.
