Patrick Gerald Shahan, 21, died October 23, 1972 in the county hospital of burns received July 30th when his Volkswagen rolled over and burned 18 miles north of Cordes Junction on Interstate 17.
Mr Shahan was born January 16, 1950 and lived at 5802 N 22nd Drive, Phoenix.
**The Department of Public Safety said Shahan was northbound on Interstate 17 on a wet road when his vehicle went into a broadside skid and rolled one and three-fourths times. He remained trapped in the burning vehicle until he was pulled free by a passing motorist, the DPS said.

Pat was an easygoing guy with a terrific sense of humor. He always had a smile on his face. I got to know him better after high school when we were enrolled at NAU. He had an engaging personality and had the gift of gab that all good Irishmen seem to have. He was a wonderful guy.
