Dorothy Louise Conklin Horrigan died peacefully on the evening of November 6, 2007. Born in Chester, West Virginia, on December 29, 1920, Dorothy had been a resident of Arizona since 1952 when she moved here from West Virginia. She was the widow of Lt. Richard W. Horrigan, US Army Air Corps, who was killed in action in World War II.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Richard and his wife, Terry, of San Francisco, California; her grand-daughter, Jennifer Dorothy Shipman, and her husband, Bill, of Miranda, California; and her long-time partner, Joe Varrelli, of Phoenix.
Dorothy's loves were square-dancing and fishing, both of which she included in her most recent trip in August along with visits to family and friends. Her out-going personality and infectious laugh will make the bright spot of energy that was Dorothy missed by all who knew her.
Memorial Mass will be said for her at Saints Simon and Jude Cathedral (6351 N.27th Avenue, Phoenix) at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 12th. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, Arizona, 85014-5656.
